Toke Makinwa Opens Up on Marriage, Divorce, and Her Willingness to Be in a Polygamous Union
Renowned Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has made headlines once again with her candid remarks on relationships and marriage. Speaking on her podcast Toke Moments, the 40-year-old revealed that she is open to becoming a second, third, or even fifth wife if the right opportunity arises.
“At this point in my life, if I have the opportunity to marry again, as a second, third, fourth, or fifth wife, I will think about it,” she shared during a recent episode.
Toke, who previously spoke openly about being single and childless at 40, admitted that it used to bring her to tears. However, she chooses to focus on her success and the love she receives from those around her. “I am 40, I am single, and I am childless. I said it, and I didn’t die. I look at my life and I see that I’m a boss, I’ve built an empire, and I am one of the most resounding voices in Africa,” she affirmed.
Reflecting on her past, Toke addressed the emotional impact of her first marriage to fitness coach Maje Ayida, which ended in divorce in 2016 due to infidelity. She stated that despite being the victim, she was blamed by many, which left her feeling deeply hurt and misunderstood.
Interestingly, she also mentioned that had she remarried after her first marriage ended, she likely would have faced another divorce, suggesting a deeper self-awareness and growth from her previous experience.
Toke’s bold and honest reflections continue to resonate with many, as she navigates the complexities of modern relationships in the public eye.
